Droughts are a critical climatic phenomenon that affects the entire world. They are distinguished by a prolonged shortage of precipitation, resulting in a lack of water in the soil and water resources. These unfavorable circumstances devastate people's lives, agriculture, biodiversity, and the economy in general.

The causes of droughts can be varied but usually involve climatic factors, human activities, and climate change. Lack of sustained rainfall, as a result of anomalous weather patterns, is a major cause. In addition, overexploitation of water resources and deforestation can aggravate the situation. Climate change, with its influence on the intensification of droughts and extreme weather events, is also emerging as an increasingly important cause. The interaction of these factors contributes to the global challenge of droughts.

Agriculture suffers from crop failure and declining food production, which is detrimental to food security. Shortages of clean water and water resources impact communities and various industrial sectors, and the destruction of natural resources impacts biodiversity. In addition, droughts pose health risks, increase food prices, cause population displacement, and have a negative socio-economic impact on affected regions.
